Underwood 7mm Rem Mag Ammunition 142 Grain Controlled Chaos Solid Monolithic: This technology was developed in response to an animal control agency’s request for a lead-free bullet that could create extensive wound trauma with minimal pass-through energy. The goal was for the bullet to fragment into numerous particles at a controlled depth, generating multiple wound channels and a large temporary cavity near critical areas like the central nervous system when shot placement is accurate. The agency had previously tested copper matrix frangible projectiles but found that the depth of penetration and particle size did not meet their requirements for effective terminal performance.

This bullet is engineered to penetrate to a specific depth before fracturing as the internal hydraulic pressure surpasses the structural strength of the nose. When it fractures, a sudden release of energy occurs as particles spread outward from the initial trajectory. This energy release and resulting temporary cavity send shockwaves through the target’s circulatory and nervous systems, effectively shutting down these systems immediately.
